Features/Benefits of the Celadon Reef Operating System (CRoS)

Integrated Voice-Video-Data

Feature – Manage integrated Voice-Video-Data from a single instance of the Celadon Reef Operating System (CRoS). This includes using a single user interface to manage connectivity, directories, priorities and QoS rules to control Voice-Video-Data from a single appliance.

Benefits – Performance is improved because of the integrated routing management of connectivity balanced by customized QoS rules. Administration is easier from a single, logically integrated user interface presented in plain English. The existing 30 functional options, plus those introduced in the future, can be added as business needs expand. Total Cost of Ownership is reduced with a single footprint, shared and balanced connectivity, a single support contract—all with open source reliability.

Easy-to-Use Streamlined User Interface

Feature – Control more than 130 networking features from a single user interface. Tiered access allows administrators to access and control specific user interface segments. For example, an office manager can manage IP PBX extension moves, adds and changes.

Benefits – The user interface has a single look, feel and logical structure across all functions. Training is easier; access for various administrative functions can be apportioned; and remote secure access is possible. Abundant hints and reminders foster efficient administration and limit unintended consequences.

Multi-personality Port Control

Feature - Optimize WAN or LAN links and access rules to create a truly converged network. Multi-personality Port Control permits configuration of the name and operating role of every physical or virtual port within CRoS and expresses these logical interfaces to all device applications.

Benefits – Multi-personality concepts enable administrators to define physical ports, such as wired or wireless, or virtual ports, such as bridges, VPNs and VLANs just once system wide. Administrators can configure networking services required for each interface easily. This feature organizes all sources of input and output: bandwidth, telco (DSL, T-1, T-3, MPLS and POTS), wireless (3G/4G), satellite, WiFi and PLC.

Forward Compatibility with New Features

Feature – Add new features within the CRoS extensible architecture when business requirements change. Features can include new apps as they are released by Celadon Reef or custom-built proprietary apps designed to create competitive advantage.

Benefits – The extensible architecture design supports adding improvements on the fly to the greatest extent possible to avoid disruptions. “Fork lift” software upgrades are not required and the CRoS open source code remains viable longer. Administrators experience less disruption and users experience less downtime.

Streamlined Delivery

Feature - Enjoy maximum efficiency and economy with an integrated solution in one box with one user interface, using a single training program and support group, and operating on low cost broadly available commodity hardware. The CRoS can be delivered as software only, virtually using a customer-supplied virtual environment, as a Celadon Reef appliance or on an OEM appliance basis.

Benefits – Having a single appliance that provides a comprehensive solution reduces the total cost of operation: lower capital cost, fewer support contracts, streamlined training, lower energy costs and improved utilization of space. Several of these attributes also make the CRoS a more environmentally green choice. A single user interface manages all of the CRoS functions and is written in plain English, allowing efficient administration.

Partner/OEM Centric

Feature – Benefit from the strong relationships we build with partners and integrators who focus on large, multi-site deployments. Programs include providing CRoS software on OEM hardware as well as customizing CRoS to meet unique customer requirements.

Benefits – Partners can design the optimal solution from among the 30 software functions and customized software possibilities. The CRoS extensible architecture allows partners to add new features on the fly, thereby creating ongoing customer loyalty (“stickiness”). Customized technical support programs foster allocating support responsibilities and support revenue streams as desired between Celadon Reef and the Partner.

Optimized for the Edge of the Internet

Feature – Benefit from a solution specifically designed to meet key needs at the edge of the Internet. CRoS is IPv6 compliant, extremely light weight (not bloated), scalable to handle large multiples, suited to remote installations (solar power, wind turbine power and cellular connectivity) and economical.

Benefits – CRoS was designed to provide integrated networking services to underserved and unreachable markets. It brings sophisticated software-based services to customers located near the edge of the Internet. These include agricultural monitoring in rice fields, small and medium sized businesses in developing countries, transportation vehicles in motion (ferries, coaches and bullet trains) and remote mining operations limited to satellite connectivity. Multi-personality Port Control blithely manages any form of connectivity to deliver integrated networking services.
